C.St. A. Bille: Handwritten draft to an invitation for a gala on the occasion Hans Christian Andersen’s 50th anniversary in Copenhagen in 1869. One page. 8vo. Photocopy of the orig. invitation + two printed songs from the party: P. Hansen: “Engang der leved en lille Pog / Med lappet Vest og stumpet Trøie” and Chr. Richardt: “I Østen, i Aladdins Land” enclosed. All mounted in a paper binding. (FP)
Andersen was enchanted and honored by the invitation, which was signed by among others Mrs. Koch, Miss Ørsted, Drewsen, Collin, Hartmann and Henriques and he immediately accepted: “Med stor Glæde og inderlig Taknemlighed modtager jeg Indbydelsen til den 6te September. Hver især min inderligste Tak! Hjerteligst H.C. Andersen”.
