A small black-glazed Gnathia ware jug, decorated under the rim with white glazed wreath. South Italy, Apulia, 4th century. H. 11 cm.

Provenance: Danish Private collection. Acquired in 2007, Bruun Rasmussen Kunstauktioner 776 lot 412. Previously in the collection of the Danish sculptor Helen Schou (1906–2006).

Condition

Wear due to age and use. Chips on rim, calcerous surface. On bottom written Apulien. For countries outside Denmark, this auction lot may be subject to special regulations. Therefore, potential buyers are advised to familiarize themselves with the regulations of their respective areas.
