Torkil Gudnason’s work is characterized by a sense of wonder and search for vibrant colours and lively subject matter. In the series Ridgewood, which is photographed in Queens, New York, Gudnason captures contemporary, urban motifs in dialogue with both humour and abstraction.
The jury has chosen Torkil Gudnason for his use of humour and abstraction from the “ordinary” which are both poetic and banal.
