Christian Krohg (b. Vestre Aker 1852, d. Oslo 1925)

Axel Revold (1887–1962), to whom the present painting is dedicated, was a Norwegian painter, and for many years a professor at the Norwegian National Academy of Arts in Oslo together with Christian Krohg. Revold was appointed director of the Academy after Krohg left in 1925. The sleeping woman is possibly depicting Ingrid Revold.
