Roman sculptural fragment of a helmeted man and a seated woman, he is naked with well defined muscles, the left arm holds a shield, the right hand is raised towards the helmet as if carrying the woman. She is seated relaxed with a slight turn of the body and dressed in a richly pleated tunic and stola. Mounted on wooden stand. Roman Imperial Period, 2nd-3rd century AD. H. 40 cm. W. 15 cm.
Provenance: Acquired in 1967 at antique dealer Holger Ferlov, Copenhagen, and has been with the family ever since.
