Michael Ancher (b. Bornholm 1849, d. Skagen 1927)
A young daughter of a fisherman from Skagen sits in a dune knitting. Study for “Fiskerpiger, der en Sommeraften ere samlede paa Sladrebakken”. Signed and dated M.A. 78. Oil on canvas laid on board. 45×48 cm.
The final painting “Fiskerpiger, der en Sommeraften ere samlede paa Sladrebakken”, (Girls gossiping on a hill. Summer evening. Skagen), dated 1879 with the measurements 112×143 cm is today at the Art Museums of Skagen (Inv. No. 1121).
