Portrait of Batholomæus Hansteen (1743–1820), customs officer in Kerteminde, sitting at a table holding a letter inscribed: A M.. Mons...[?] and a quill. Unsigned. Oil on canvas. 56×43 cm.

An old inscription on the reverse says among others (in Danish): The face is painted by the Danish portrait painter Jens Juel.

Condition

Numerous crackles. Minor retouches and a few minimal peelings.
