Gerlinde Miesenboeck creates an anti-portrait in quequ’une. Her self-portraits are manipulated to become de-personalized, undermining the concept of portraiture with recognizable features, with only clothing, and social signs or gestures remaining.
The jury has chosen Gerlinde Miesenboeck’s works for their candid use of image manipulation whilst drawing attention to both topical and universal questions of identity and portraiture from a unique, personal perspective.
