Alexei Fedorov Kolotochin (, Yaroslavl 1842-1876)

A Russian Mother of God icon “Vladimirskaja”. Tempera on wood panel, double kovcheg, covered by chased and punched silver oklad, pierced halo, richly set with pearls and stones. Alexei Fedorov Kolotochin, Cyrillic assay mark MC 1871, Yaraslavl town mark, 84 standard, reverse with inventory number 443. 32×27 cm.

The icon has a connection with the city of Vladimir, north of Moscow, where the city’s Prince Andrei (1110–1174) brought the icon with him from his hometown of Kiev at the time of his inauguration. The icon was placed in the city's main church. Here, the icon caused the miraculous healing of different ailments.
