Edvard Kindt-Larsen (b. Frederiksberg 1901, d. Gentofte 1982)

A pair of early easy chairs with patinated oak frame. Seat and back upholstered with light brown wool, fitted with buttons, patinated natural leather strap below seat. These examples made approx. 1940 by cabinetmaker Gustav Bertelsen. (2)

Model presented at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers' Guild Exhibition in 1940. Won 1st prize at the exhibition.

The Kindt-Larsen couple wrote down a few thoughts about the construction of the chairs on the published sketch drawings for the chairs: “The easy chairs are made as special ”fireplace chairs“ with a significantly lower seat than usual, which provides the right position relative to the fireplace, from which you can watch the flames flicker agains the back of the fireplace”.
