Five Russian silver salt cellars, among others a pair of salt cellars: Maker's mark HJ, Moscow town mark, 84 standard. Early 19th c. and a salt cellar: Andrei Astrachanzev, assayer Nikolaj Lukich Dubrovin 1838, Moscow town mark, 84 standard. Weight 136 g. H. 2.5–3.5 cm. L. 7.5–8.5 cm. (5).
Provenance: The Danish Envoy and Consul General Hans Poul Hoffmeyer (1893–1962). Secretary of Legation in Vienna, Berlin, Moscow and Warzaw in the 1920s, later Counsellor of the Legation in Berlin, Paris, Turkey, Israel and Greece, and finally Consul General in Hamburg from 1954. Hoffmeyer's interest in collecting silver was pervasive and he acquired items in all the cities he lived. Thence by descent with residence in Denmark, until today.
