A Saxon covered goblet, funnel shaped cuppa with facetted bottom, on airfilled stem with facetted compressed sphere and baluster, cuppa engraved with weapon and the order of the elephant (without chain) flanked by putti and a woman holding a crown. C. 1722–1744. H. incl. låg 31 cm.
Weapon is of the East-Frisian. Two counts of East-Frisian were knights of the order of the Elephant: Georg Albert (d. 1734) - rknighted in 1722 and the son Carl Ezard (d. 1744) - knighted in 1734.
Acquired in Copenhagen, antique dealer Ole Haslund.
Provenance: Olaf Dalsgaard-Olsen (1903–1988), director of Nordisk Film. Thereafter Jørgen Schou-Christensen (1937–2025) former museum inspector at Kunstindustrimuseet (today Designmuseet/The Danish Designmuseum).
