Italy, Reggio Emilia, 1557–1575, uniface, pierced bronze medal of an unknown lady aged 20, attributed to Giovanni Battista Cambio, called Bombarda, cf. Attwood 680 var., 71 mm, 29.10 g, marked B.M. near the lower edge of the obverse, Lugt 25959 - a beautiful dark chocolate brown early cast with a prestigious provenance.
The enigmatic inscription “Quod huic deest me tourquet” (That in which she is most wanting torments me) has been interpreted as a reference to Isabella Boschetti (the beautiful Boschetta) made famous by Tizian.
Ex. Christian Tual; ex. Hyppolite Boissel de Monville (1794–1873).
