Arne Jacobsen (b. Copenhagen 1902, d. s.p. 1971)

View of the Gas Bell in Jægersborg (where AJ had its architectural office for many years). Unsigned. The Gas Bell is designed by Professor Edvard Thomsen, the Royal Academy's leader in the 1930s. Watercolour on paper. Visible size 55×49 cm.

Provenance: Acquired directly from Arne Jacobsen by the Danish-Swedish architect Bent Jørgen Jørgensen (BJJ). Jørgensen graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen in 1942. He was employed by architect Vilhelm Lauritzen in Copenhagen in 1941, with Arne Jacobsen as chief architect in Jægersborg 1942, at Hans Westman in Lund 1945, and conducted his own architectural activity in Växjö from 1947. Provenance: Private collection, Denmark.
