Axel Salto (b. Copenhagen 1889, d. Frederiksberg 1961)
A small cylindrical vase of blue, unglazed chamotte stoneware. Three incised, leaf-ornaments of wich two inlaid with white stoneware mass. Signed Salto, 9119, 9115. Royal Copenhagen. H. 7.2 cm. Diam. 6.7 cm.
Provenance: The vase was part of the private collection of museum curator and art historian Sigurd Schultz (b. 1894, d. 1980).
Patina consistent with age and use, including some surface marks and scratches. One motif with inlaid stoneware mass: with a couple of minimal chips.
