Purchased by Museum Jorn in March 2014.

Scout Diary from Silkeborg-Alderslyst scouts-group, 1931–1932. With several original drawings by Asger Jorn, 1931: September, October, November, December; 1932: January, February, March, April and May. Cover of leather decorated with drawing, writings and names. Format 23×17 cm.

The former owner writes:

"Asger Jorn, or Asger Jørgensen as he was then known, came to Silkeborg in 1929 and, together with his two siblings, Vagn Ove Jorn and Jørgen Nash, joined the KFUM (YMCA) Scouts in the relatively newly formed Silkeborg Alderslyst group. During his time as a scout, Asger Jorn made drawings in several scouting diaries - drawings illustrating single events in the patrol or events over longer periods such as summer camps and weekend trips.

When the Silkeborg Alderslyst group celebrated its 60th anniversary in 1980, historical items from the group's history were collected. This was how I came into contact with one of Asger Jorn's fellow scouts, who was in possession of this scouting diary. When the patrol was disbanded, a draw was held for the diary, and thus it was this person who had won it.

The owner wished to give the diary to someone who could both protect it and ensure that it didn't just disappear into the usual boxes of old scouting items. At the same time, he also wanted the diary to go to someone who was interested in both art and scouting. Both Asger Jorn and Jørgen Nash's scouting days in Silkeborg were relatively short-lived, but over the years, Vagn Ove Jorn and his children helped shape scouting in Silkeborg.

I have had the diary since 1980 and now seems like a good time to pass it on to others with an interest in Asger Jorn, what with it being the 100th anniversary of his birth".
