Burchard Precht, model efter (f. Bremen 1651, d. Stockholm 1738)

These mirrors is characteristic of the works of Burchard Precht and his son Gustav. The use of gilded lead fruit basket for ornamentation are characteristic of their design. A fine balance between lightness and symmetry which characterizes their mirrors. Originally from Bremen in Germany, Burchard settled in Stockholm in 1674 and provided furniture for the Drottningholm Palace. In 1682, he was appointed sculptor of the court of Karl XI and was commissioned by the latter to accompany in 1687 the architect of the court, Nicodemus Tessin, in Rome and in Paris in order to study the new baroque aesthetic concepts in sight. of the construction of the Royal Palace in Stockholm. His son Gustav (1698–1763) continued his Work and was also very successful.
