J.G. Bradt: Monumenta Fredensburgica iussu Friderici V. erecta. [Copenhagen 1769]. Folio. With engraved frontispiece and 37 plates with 40 etchings (two double-page). Engraved plates numb. I-XXXVII. With 4 text pages in Danish describing etchings. Bound in half calf, some wear to spine and boards. All plates and etchings intact and unblemished.

It took the Danish architect and engraver Johannes Gottfred Bradt (1741–1770) 4 years to etch this magnificent record of the sculptures in the garden of Fredensborg castle after drawings by the greatest Danish sculptor of the 18th century, Johannes Wiedewelt (1731–1802).

Condition

Some browning and small tear to folding leaf with plate X, but no damage to plate. Some wear to spine and boards. Leather at top of spine slightly worn off. Clean inside.
