An antique Khasgai horse cover, South Persia. A high quality, fine weave horse cover with design of horisontal bands with a great variation of peacock motifs and mythical creatures. Horse covers was made for prosperous members of the tribe, to decorate the horse for official or festive occasions. Executed in sumac weave technic. A collectors item. 1880–1910. H. 157 cm. W. 147 cm.

Provenance: The private Danish collector Karsten Hartmann. Civil engineer Karsten Hartmann Petersen has collected carpets ever since he first visited Iran in 1962, where the seeds were planted for a lifelong fascination with the Persian textile art.
