Unique canopy bed with white lacquered frame and canopy. Carved balustrade pillars with light blue lacquer. Made approx. 1926 for Dronninglund Castle. H. 198 cm. W. 162 cm. L. 232 cm.

Provenance: Made and designed for Dronninglund Castle approx. 1926 in connection with Poul Henningsen's work on restoring the stable and agricultural buildings. Hence in a private Danish collection.

From 1916–1929 Dronninglund Castle was owned by Consul Niels Kaj Strøyberg and his wife Caroline Mathilde Strøyberg, parents of Else Strøyberg, who married Poul Henningsen in 1919.

Poul Henningsen was very productive in the 1920s, where both a contribution to the Paris World Exposition in 1925 and the final design of the PH lamp were created and patented in 1926, both of which would later become milestones in the history of Danish design. Simultaneously, Poul Henningsen designed very few pieces of furniture, most of which did not achieve the same level of public recognition.

Exhibited: “Kunsten” in Aalborg 1994 in connection with Poul Henningsen's 100 year anniversary exhibition.
