Johan Öman, attributed (b. 1789, d. Stockholm 1833)

A late Gustavian mahogany and giltwood console with porphyry top, curved front legs with carved Egyptian female busts and animal paws. Stockholm, c. 1800. H. 83 cm. W. 94 cm. D. 48 cm.

The Swedish cabinet maker Johan Öman studied in Stockholm with Gottlieb Iwersson and was active in the years 1815–1833. He made furniture of high quality and delivered furniture to the Swedish royal castle Rosendal Castle at Djurgården.
