Apollo 10 - launched on May 18th 1969 and returned on May 26th - was the fourth manned mission within the Apollo Program and the first to be fired from platform 39B at Kennedy Space Center, Florida. Furthermore Apollo 10 was the second manned space vessel to go into orbit around the Moon. Aboard were the astronauts Thomas P. Stafford (b. 1930), John Young (1930–2018) and Eugene Cernan (1934–2017). On May 22nd 1969 the mission managed to go down to a mere 15,400 metres above the lunar surface. NASA considered Apollo 10 the test run for Apollo 11, which landed on the Moon just two months later.

The Apollo 10 Command Module is today displayed in Science Museum, London. The landing gear crashed down on the Moon.
