Hans Christian Andersen (b. Odense 1805, d. Copenhagen 1875)

Hans Christian Andersen: Collection of 14 b/w photographs and one photograph of a handwritten note by Andersen. 5 photographs are reprints. Various sizes. All housed in one frame measuring 62×47 cm.

The “photo-collage” of Andersen was given to the Danish sculptor Henry Luckow-Nielsen (1902–1992) who today probably is best known for his statue of Hans Christian Andersen placed near the city hall on City Hall Square in central Copenhagen. Luckow-Nielsen who was a student of the Danish sculptor and professor Einar Utzon-Frank, took over the work from his teacher when he died in 1955 and finished the sculture of the world famous poet.
