“The Chair”. A solid teak armchair, upholstered in seat with black leather. Model JH 503. Made and marked by cabinetmaker Johannes Hansen, Copenhagen.
“The Chair/The Round Chair” was first presented at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers' Guild Exhibition, at Designmuseum Danmark in 1949. Version with caned seat and top rail, the year after in this version with upholstered seat. John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon sat in Wegner Round Chair or “The Chair” as the Americans named it, in the legendary television duels during the US presidential election in 1960.
