When President Chaim Weizmann (1874–1952) died in 1952, Albert Einstein was offered to succeed him as head of Israel, yet he declined. Einstein's religiosity was closer to that of Baruch de Spinoza, known as pantheism. Einstein believed that God showed his existence through the sacred harmony of the natural laws and rejected the notion of a personal god that could interact with human beings. Among the world religions Einstein preferred Buddhism.
This is an original American b/w press photograph from 1955, which shows normal signs of age and handling. News telegram on back has yellowed due to ageing/storage conditions.
