The picture was originally taken on the 9.8.1868. On that day Andersen writes in the diary about a dinner and a photo sance at the estate Rolighed together with the Bloch family.
Billedet er sandsynligvis oprindelig optaget 9.8.1868, hvor Andersen skriver i sin dagbog: “Til Middag [på Rolighed] var Bloch og Kone her. Vi skulde efter Bordet photographeres” Carl Bloch (1834–1890) og H.C. Andersen havde flittig kontakt især i perioden 1866–68. Ochsner #125.
