“Rex”. A pair of easy chairs with swivel steel frame. Seat and back upholstered with black alcantara. Model 10020. Manufactured by Fredericia Furniture. (2)
Rex was selected as the winner chair in the design competition, A Chair for the Crown Prince, organized by the Danish Craft and Design Association in 2001. The first Rex Chair was made of molded oak with sealskin upholstery – a reference to the Crown Prince´s love of Artic nature. The chairs unusual shape was made possible by a combination of folds and a vertical slot, where the seat meets the back. The X shape of the swivel base symbolizes the future place of the Crown prince in the Danish royal family line as King Frederik X.
