Collection of Smid's medical advisers in the first 1557-editions: 1. All printed Cph: Hans Vingaard 1557. 4to. Ad. 1: Wood cut title leaf in red and black. 164 leaves (last blank). + 2. Wood cut title leaf. 52 leaves (last blank). + 3. Wood cut title leaf. 48 leaves (incl. 12 leaves from Apoteckerfortegnelsen). + 4. Wood cut title leaf. 27 leaves (lacking last blank leaf). + 5. Wood cut title leaf. 16 leaves (last leaf in facsimile). Wear due to age and use. Damp-staining to some leaves. Good upper and lower margins. Browning, soiling and damp-staining. Bound in near cont. full calf binding with gilt decorations (flowers) on spine.

All parts are first editions and include the first known edition of a Danish plague manual (no. 3). and the first Danish book dealing with obstetrics and diseases of woman (no. 2).

Henrik Smid's famous home medical adviser became tremendously popular at its time and was reprinted again and again. It is an important part of the Danish-Norwegian folk culture and of interest to the study of medical history.
