American actor James Dean, whose own life was cut so short, achieved immortality in the world of motion pictures through his roles in ‘Rebel Without a Cause’ (1955), ‘East of Eden’ (1955) and ‘Giant’ (1956). By the time he died in a car accident in California on September 30, 1955, his intense performances and the brooding nature of his acting had already made him a cultural legend.
