Andrei Dementiev a.o. (, Moscow)
12 Russian silver vodka cups main part embossed with rocailles, flowers and foliage, all applied with handles. Various makers, a.o. Andrei Dementiev, assayer Andrei Andrejev 1777, alderman Fedor Petrov (1759–1784), Moscow town mark. 18th century. Weight 300 g. H. 2.5–4 cm. (12).
Provenance: The Danish Envoy and Consul General Hans Poul Hoffmeyer (1893–1962). Secretary of Legation in Vienna, Berlin, Moscow and Warzaw in the 1920s, later Counsellor of the Legation in Berlin, Paris, Turkey, Israel and Greece, and finally Consul General in Hamburg from 1954. Hoffmeyer's interest in collecting silver was pervasive and he acquired items in all the cities he lived. Thence by descent with residence in Denmark, until today.
Wear due to age and use. Larger and minor dents, one cup with repairs.
