Here, a young woman from Skagen is knitting, sitting on the doorstep facing a beach landscape bathed in the golden rays of the last sun, which are reflected in the pink wall behind her. Outside - just on the other side of the door threshold - a young Skagen fisherman is sitting on the doorstep at the woman's feet and looks up at her. A rendez-vous after today's work. The entire scenery is bathed in Anna Ancher's characteristic delicate light and colours - light green, blue, yellow and red. Only the knitwear stands out with a strong clear blue colour in the center of the painting.
