Augustin Ehrensvärd was one of the most important Swedish military officers of his time. He became the commander-in-chief in Finland, and was later appointed field marshal. Ehrensvärd was also a competent painter and military architect, who was the creator of the fortress Suomenlinna (Sveaborg), and who founded the Swedish archipelago fleet (skärgårdsflottan).
