Elegance and Lightness

There is a majestic elegance about Ib Kofod-Larsen’s furniture from the 1950s, especially the sofa and the easy chair “Elisabeth”, named after Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain, after she acquired a copy in 1958 during a visit to Denmark.

Ib Kofod-Larsen was trained as an architect and inspired by especially Finn Juhl’s approach to Danish furniture design characterised by an elegant, organic and sculptural idiom. In particular, Kofod-Larsen’s furniture in rosewood is extremely sought-after on the international auction market.

At Bruun Rasmussen, we regularly sell furniture by Ib Kofod-Larsen, including easy chairs and sofas as well as sideboards and coffee tables, which go for prices ranging from DKK 1,400 to DKK 170,000. The prices vary depending on whether the furniture is handcrafted or mass-produced, while age, condition and provenance are also of great importance.
