But nonetheless reason for celebration. Bruun Rasmussen’s 60th anniversary will be marked with a number of jubilee auctions during the autumn.

It is 60 years since the founder, Arne Bruun Rasmussen, held his first auction at his then newly acquired auction house on Bredgade 33. At the time the auction house mainly dealt with classical pictorial art, including works from the Danish Golden Age, prints and antiques. Later there was a rise in interest in the works of the Skagen Painters, in modern art, the CoBrA movement and in designer furniture. Then speciality catalogues were added, including those of books, coins, wine, weapons and stamps. And since Bruun Rasmussen went online in 2004 the Internet has become a powerful new auction platform within all featured catalogues.

Much has happened since Arne Bruun Rasmussen swung the gavel for the very first time on his auction house rostrum. Today, the third generation of the Bruun Rasmussen family has joined the business whose illustrious achievement is celebrated throughout the autumn with a series of exclusive auctions, which each represent the very best the auction house has to offer.
