Jesper Bruun Rasmussen
A life in the service of art
Jesper Bruun Rasmussen (b. 1942) has devoted most of his life to art and is almost the epitome of Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers. It was his father, Arne Bruun Rasmussen, who founded Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers in 1948. Jesper Bruun Rasmussen made his foray into the auction house as a 17-year-old and has been head of the family and the business since his father’s death in 1985.
It is a high-profile, international auction house that Jesper Bruun Rasmussen runs today together with his team of directors and the third generation of the family, son Frederik and daughter Alexa. Tradition, credibility, commitment and innovation are key words in Jesper’s management of the family-run auction house. Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers still holds traditional auctions at Bredgade 33 in Copenhagen, where the auction house was originally founded, as well as daily online auctions.
Jesper Bruun Rasmussen is responsible for a multitude of interests – both businesswise and in respect of the creative work that lies behind each and every auction catalogue and preview at Bredgade. This all helps to create the unique atmosphere that characterises Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers. In the auction business, market forces and experience economy go hand in hand. It is all about creating the right environment, establishing contacts, being entertained and doing a good deal – and Jesper Bruun Rasmussen also happens to be an unsurpassed businessman and auctioneer!
