Big names in Danish art
The classic art section is this time lead by Golden Age pioneer C.W. Eckersberg with a number of paintings and drawings from his early travels to Paris and Rome – including a charming motif of a mother and her daughter, painted in Paris around 1811-12
Antiques from a Danish collection
If you are more interested in antiques, it might be worth while having a look at the gold plated, Russian, 19th century bronze chandelier, and the cylinder bureau, made by Empress Eugenie’s renowned cabinet maker, Paul Sormani. Both objects originate from former Danish consul-general in Saint Petersburg, H.H.Schrøder’s collection.
Titanic – feel the presence of history
It is only on rare occasions, that items, which have belonged to victims of the Titanic disaster, are put up for sale. However, now is one such moment, as we are offering a pocket watch, which the adventurous, 27 year old Dane, Hans Christensen Givard, had in his pocket during the fatal journey across the Atlantic in 1912.
From Lynggard to Cartier
The large selection of jewellery and wristwatches at the auction include, among other things, a number of brilliant-cut pieces of diamond jewellery from Ole Lynggard’s ”Flowers”-line, and a diamond bracelet made from platinum by the famed, French jeweller Cartier
Great, modern art
If you are more interested in modern art, we are offering 14 pictures by Asger Jorn, including ”Le sorcier, II” (a male witch) from 1957 – a time of unrest and upheaval, where Jorn inclines towards a ceramic expression. The portrait genre is represented by Kurt Trampedach’s existential motifs, and Andy Warhol, giving rock’n roll fans an opportunity to leave the auction accompanied by the legendary frontman of the Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger.
An ambitious collection
The late merchant, Ove Højgaard Andersen started collecting art in the 1960’s, and for decades he was a regular guest at our auctions. His love for simplicity was primarily satisfied by the concrete art by names from the progressive milieu around the Galerie Denise René in Paris. Read more here
Modern Danish design
Among the highlights of the design section is Kay Fisker’s architectonic, oversize cocktail set, not to mention a number of rare furniture classics from the first half of the 1950’s by Hans J. Wegner. We are also moving further back in the history of furniture with items such as Mogens Lassen’s Egyptian desk, which was made to order for the popular illustrator Christel.
Finn Juhl 100 years
The Chieftain’s chair, the Poet, and the Pelican – we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of one of the greatest names in the history of Danish design, with a special auction of Finn Juhl’s classic furniture and artware. Read more here
