Jacques Dubois (b. France 1694, d. 1763)
A large and impressive Louis XV amaranth marquetry and gilt bronze commode with Belgian marble top, curved sides and front with four drawers, curved legs, stamped on the right front corner 'I.DUBOIS' and 'JME' for Jurande des Menuisiers Ébéniste. France, mid-18th century. H. 86 cm. W. 149 cm. D. 66 cm.
Jacques Dubois' work can be seen in London at the Wallace Collection and Victoria and Albert Museum, Waddesdon Manor Buckinghamshire, Musées des Arts Décoratifs and musee Carnavalet as well as Cleveland Museum of Art, the Frick Collection and the Wrightsman Collection, Metropolitan Museum in New York.
