A rare Russian gold medal in memory of the death of Tsarevich Nicholas Alexandrovich dated 1865, by N. Kozin (signed on truncation and below). Diakov 732.1, 36 mm, 30.03 gr.

Obverse and reverse legends read: “Bless Faithful Sovereign Tsesarevitch and Grand Duke Nicholas Alexandrovich Born in St. Petersburg 8 September 1843. / Thy will be Done. Died in Nice 12 April 1865.”

Tsarevich and Grand Duke Nicholas Alexandrovich (1843–1865) was the elder brother of Tsar Alexander III and the first fiancée of Tsaritsa Maria Feodorovna.
