Edward Burgis, London 1600-c. 1699

A James II ebony striking table clock with gilt metal basket top, square dial engraved chapter ring with strike/silent above XII, matted centre, movement with verge escapement and hour striking on one bell, beautifully engraved backplate with tulips and scrollwork, and the maker's name 'Edward Burgis Londini fecit'. England, second half of the 17th century. H. 31.5 cm. W. 23.5 cm. D. 15 cm.
