Peder Moos (b. Nybøl 1906, d. Bredebro, Tønder 1991)

“Bateau Lit”. Boat shaped bed of solid walnut wood, thick profiled edge. Mounted on profiled plinth of black painted pine. Original and new mattress included. Designed and made approx. 1943–1950 by cabinetmaker Peder Moos. H. 59./82 cm. W. 150 cm. L. approx. 238 cm.

In his time it was noted that traits from the Jugend and Art Nouveau period seemed to have survived in the furniture of Peder Moos. With this bed one would rather talk of a clear cut Art Deco form. The bed is an elaboration of the bed Peder Moos exhibited at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers Guild Exhibition in 1943. This was a bed sligthly more traditional in its form with four legs.
