Kaare Klint (b. Frederiksberg 1888, d. Copenhagen 1954)

Freestanding three seater sofa on eight-legged mahogany cross-frame. Sides, seat and back upholstered with patinated cognac coloured leather. Model 4118. Designed 1930. This example made approx. 1978 by Rud. Rasmussen Cabinetmakers, with maker's paper label. L. 200 cm.

Sofa model 4118 was designed in 1930 for the interior for the Ministry of State office, where Th. Stauning as a re-elected prime minister in 1929 moved into the new premises in Slotsholdsgade 10. This first sofa was upholstered with black horsehair, fitted with brass nails and with Niger leather covered buttons. Since then the sofa has been made in different woods and a variety of upholsteries.
