Suzanne Ludvigsen, A Catalogue Raisonné of the Works of Dankvart Dreyer no. 169, reproduced part II, p. 79. Suzanne Ludvigsen writes as a comment to the painting (in Danish): “The motif could be from the region around Silkeborg, where the artist worked 1838, 1839 and 1841.”
Provenance: Vicar Frederik Rubæk (1849–1923), Levring rectory in Jutland. His daughter Helga Jürgensen (1885–1954). Her husband Arthur Emanuel Petersen. Their son Povl Frederik Bruun-Petersen. The painting has been in the same family's ownership until today.
