Simon De Charmes
An English silver pair cases verge pocket watch with mock pendulum, engraved silver dial with scrolling foliage, regulation between 7 and 8 o'clock, crescent-shaped aperture beneath 6 o'clock for mock pendulum, later white dial with Roman numerals and outer 5-minute Arabic numerals. Silver dial signed S De Charmes London. Plain cases. C. 1720. Case diam. 46/53 mm.
Simon De Charmes came to England from France circa 1685 and became Free Brother of the Clockmaker's Company in 1691. Provenance: Danish private collection
