Daum Nancy

Tall four-sided Art Nouveau lamp of amber coloured glass. Overlaid and acid etched with lathyrus motifs in green and opal glass. Signed Daum Nancy, with the Cross of Lorraine. Made circa 1900. Patinated bronze mounting. H. 47,5 cm.

Acquired by present owner with the following provenance: Lillie De Hegermann-Lindencrone (1844–1928, born Greenough). Married first time with Paris based banker, Charles Moulton, married second time to Danish diplomat, chamberlain Johan Henrik Hegermann-Lindencrone, grand child of composer and singer Édouard du Puy (1770–1822), and their descendants of resp. first marriage, Suzanne Moulton, married to count and foreign minister Frederik Raben-Levetzau (1850–1933), and second marriage Frederikke Hegermann-Lindencrone (1778–1853), married to consul general Poul Holm by the company Jacob Holm & Sønners Fabriker A/S and the brother, manager for The Royal Danish Theatre in the period 1938–1946, Cai Hegermann-Lindencrone. The present lamp is part of the collection of objects originating from the appointments in Washington, Rome, Stockholm, Paris and Berlin during the period 1875–1912.
