The lip-cup was a popular Greek drinking cup in the second half of the sixth century BC. The decoration was simple, delicate and miniscule often depiciting animals. Below the lip there would be an inscription with a motto, the artist's name or a nonsense combination of letters or like in the present cup a series of dots.
Wear due to age and use, scratches, black glaze worn, traces of calcerous surface all over.
