Matryena Andreyevna (, Moscow)

A Russian cut crystal, silver and gem-set carafe in the Pan-Slavic style, gilt interior, lid with a cabochon granate, under which scrollwork, handle formed as an eagle with facetcut granate eyes. Matryena Andreyevna, assayer Ivan Sergeievich Lebedkin in Moscow 1896–1908, 84 standard. H. 17 cm.

Provenance: Acquired by the Danish engineer and telegraph inspector P. T. O. C. Tversted (1900–1992) in Russia 1920–1930, where he was posted for the Great Northern Telegraph Company. Thence by descent.
