Peter Oluf Brøndsted (1780–1842) Danish archaeologist and philologist, explored Greece and Asia Minor and conducted excavations. Of a projected series of eight studies only the first two were completed Eight parts of this work were projected but only these two completed; the first on Keos (Zea) he finished in Paris in 1825 and the second, containing studies of the Parthenon, followed in 1830. This work cemented Brønsteds fame as an eminent archeologist throughout Europe.
